Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim’s son commits to Cornell

Jimmy Boeheim, oldest son of longtime Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim, has committed to Cornell.

Boeheim announced his decision via Twitter Tuesday evening.

Boeheim currently attends New Hampton (N.H.) Prep, having graduated from Jamesville-DeWitt High School. The son of the Orange’s longtime coach is a 6-foot-7 forward who was also pursued by Dartmouth, and the Big Green, whose assistant coach Pete Hutchins is former head coach at New Hampton.

Syracuse has faced Cornell in each of the last five seasons, beating the Big Red every time.

Cornell is currently 7-20 under first-year head coach Brian Earl, another person who knows what it’s like to want to break away from a tradition in orange.
