Post-holiday program alert: Ivy League to launch “Road to Ivy Madness” podcast

On Thursday, the Ivy League office announced that it will produce a weekly “Road to Ivy Madness” podcast for the upcoming conference schedule. The 12 episodes, available each Wednesday on IvyLeague.com and Apple Podcasts, begin on Jan. 2, three days before the opening of league play with a Penn-Princeton doubleheader at Jadwin Gym.  Each “Road to Ivy Madness,” hosted by Bill Spaulding, is expected to be 20-25 minutes in length and feature major storylines in both the men’s and women’s divisions.

Spaulding, a play-by-play broadcaster for the Ivy League and NBC Sports, will be joined by two former Ivy hoopsters, Megan Perry and Noah Savage. Perry played for the Big Red from 2004-2008 and was a tri-captain in her senior year, the last season the Cornell women held the Ivy League title. After leaving East Hill, Perry began a six-year association with the NBA and WNBA.  Starting in 2012, she has served as a color analyst for the Ivy League, ACC, A-10, ESPN3 and CBS Sports.  In 2017, Perry founded She Inspires Sports, an organization that seeks to educate and empower men and women through executive coaching, interview coaching, and communication strategy consulting. Savage, a member of the Princeton Tigers from 2004-2008, was a second team All-Ivy forward and team captain his senior season.  Since graduating, he has done broadcasting for Princeton men’s and women’s basketball, as well as ESPN and NBC Sports Philadelphia.

In addition to the podcast, the trio will host “Live from Ivy Madness” from the John J. Lee Amphitheater on March 15.  The all-day broadcast, from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m., will focus on all eight Ivy Tournament participants and preview the four Ivy Tournament semifinals during the open shootaround.

According to Matt Panto, Ivy League Associate Executive Director, Strategic Communications & External Relations, “The podcast adds another platform to showcase the strength and depth of Ivy League men’s and women’s basketball. The league’s regular season, in particular the back-to-back weekends, is consistently the most unique and exciting schedule in college basketball. We look forward to providing fans another piece of engaging content to share their passion for their team all the way through Ivy Madness.”

We here at IHO, well aware that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, applaud the Ivy League on this new endeavor and eagerly look forward to its premiere.

  1. Indeed, lines from my articles have been parroted word for word on Ivy TV broadcasts by some commentators.

I applaud their good taste if not their unoriginaity.

  2. Ivy “madness” is the best way to describe the Ivy post season b-ball tournament. Was this an idea of the Dumb Blond Dukie?
