EJ Jarvis, Yale’s 6-foot-8 senior center from Washington, D.C., recently sat down with IHO following a dominant 34-point, 10-rebound outing in a win over Cornell Saturday:

IHO: Why Yale?

EJJ: -The coaches and the campus. The coaching staff was the most genuine. Coach [Anthony] Goins (now a Boston College assistant) was the coach who initially recruited me. Then coach [Justin] Simon. I really liked the Gothic architecture. I’m and Urban Studies major and a nerd for that.

IHO: Did you consider attending Georgetown?

EJJ: I’m friends with the Thompson family. I was a huge Georgetown fan growing up, but I wanted to get away from home.

IHO: Talk about your performance last Saturday, when you had 34 points against Cornell at John J. Lee Amphitheater.

EJJ: It was fun. One of the first dates I looked at when the schedule came out was Senior Night. I’m thankful to have played before family and friend in the friendly confines of JLA.
