Ivy Hoops Online recently caught up with Yale senior forward and Greenwich, Conn. native Jack Molloy:
Ivy Hoops Online: Growing-up in Greenwich, were you interested in Yale sports?
Jack Molloy: I didn’t start following Ivy sports until my freshman year in high school. I was really thinking about Wesleyan or Amherst. New Heights AAU took me and I went to Elite Camp at Yale and the coaches thought I could play here.
IHO: What was the camp like?
JM: So fun. Legitimate 12 hours of basketball. Constantly playing pickup. (Yale associate head) coach (Justin) Simon showed me around campus.
IHO: Compare this year’s team with 2024.
JM: Last year it was a feeling of how good we could be. Hadn’t put it together yet. (Now) we are really playing team ball.
IHO: Talk about the loss of (Michigan transfer and 2023-24 First-Team All-Ivy selection) Danny Wolf.
JM: He is an incredible basketball player. Hard to think what we could be like with a 7-foot point guard. It’s a fantasy with a guy who could be a lottery pick.
IHO: Talk about the frosh.
JM: One of the best freshman classes we have had in a long time. Each one has stepped up. Isaac (Celiscar) from the get-go had opportunities. Riley (Fox) can really shoot it. JB (Jordan Brathwaite) can do so much. They are great kids.
IHO: What’s it like to be coached by James Jones?
JM: It’s the best. We are the only team in the country where every single guy has a good relationship with the head coach.
