A look at Yale men’s basketball entering Ivy League play
The out-of-conference portion of the Yale men’s schedule ended today with an emphatic 93-65 win over visiting Howard.
Yale (7-6) was picked to finish second behind Princeton in the Ivy media preseason poll.
So what have we learned about Yale?
Yale men’s basketball falls at No. 13 Purdue, 92-84
Yale men’s basketball owned the paint, but Purdue owned the perimeter, as the No. 13 Boilermakers defeated Yale 92-84 at a sold-out Mackey Arena Monday night.
Yale (1-2) outscored Purdue (3-0) 50-24 in the paint and 11-5 on offensive rebounds.
Bulldogs coach James Jones called his team’s showing a “tough gritty performance, a few costly possessions from a great road win.”
No. 14 Yale fails to size up No. 3 Purdue in 78-56 defeat in NCAA Tournament

Size matters.
That was evident in Milwaukee today at Fiserv Forum, where Purdue throttled a game but undermanned Yale team, 78-56, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday.
The game was reminiscent of Yale’s 80-44 loss at a much bigger Seton Hall in November. Purdue outrebounded the Bulldogs, 42-33, and at one point had a 23-1 advantage in free throw attempts.

Columbia guard Kyle Castlin commits to Xavier as grad transfer
Looks like Xavier will get an Ivy grad transfer after all.
A week after former Dartmouth standout Evan Boudreaux committed to Purdue following a decommitment from Xavier, Jeff Goodman of ESPN reported Sunday that Columbia guard Kyle Castlin is headed for Xavier.
Castlin will play for new Xavier coach Travis Steele, who was hired Mar. 29 following the departure of Chris Mack, who left for Louisville (thereby prompting Boudreaux to reopen his recruitment).
Former Dartmouth standout Evan Boudreaux to transfer to Purdue instead of Xavier
Former Dartmouth forward Evan Boudreaux announced in December that he would attend Xavier next year.
Now he’s set to become a Boilermaker instead.
Boudreaux announced Thursday on Twitter that he would attend Purdue next season, having reopened his recruitment after Xavier coach Chris Mack left for Louisville:
Alright third time’s the charm. Very excited to announce that I will be attending Purdue University next year!

Boudreaux ranked second in the Ivy League in scoring, first in rebounding and second in minutes played as a sophomore in 2016-17. The 6-foot-8 Lake Forest, Ill. native has two years of eligibility remaining.
